Chanakya National Law University (Patna)

The Government of Bihar established National Law University on 15th July, 2006 which started functioning effectively from 15th August, 2006. Chanakya National Law University provides educational opportunities, particularly, in legal education many asprints who were otherwise forced to leave this state for better legal education. Chanakya National Law University is a humble attempt to provide quality legal education to those aspiring for it. Legal fraternity has welcome this toddler into their fold and the university is trying its best to build itself into a centre of excellence in legal studies trying to bridge the tradition of the past with the institution of present so as to the create new institutions capable of adjusting to the changing needs of the people in the justicing process. The Self- Study Report is prepared with the object of appraising the NAAC authorities with the realities and the aspirations of the university.


Admissions


Candidates of the above mentioned categories shall fulfil other requirements regarding age and qualifications as per CNLU eligibility rules i.e. (i) shall not have completed 20 years of age as on 1st July 2016 and ii) minimum percentage of marks in 10+2/Intermediate marks for admission for B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) courses will be 45% .The merit list of Foreign Nationals / NRIs shall be on the basis of their 10+2 marks. If the merit is same the marks of 10th standard will be taken into consideration. If still there is no change in rank then the higher in age shall be preferred.


Courses


B.A., & B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) 5 year integrated course
The University has launched B.A., LL.B (Hons.) 5 year integrated course in 2006 and B.B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) 5 year integrated course in 2013.The selection for 120 students shall strictly be on the basis of merit as determined by the Common Law Admission Test 2016 and candidates shall fulfil other requirements regarding age and qualifications as per CLAT-2016. This admission will be subject to the Reservations as per Bihar Reservation Act 2003.

LL.M. one year course
For admission to LL.M. course should have passed an Undergraduate Degree in Law (i.e. 3 Years LL.B./Five Years Integrated LL.B. (Hons.)/ any other equivalent degree with the following Marks/Equivalent Grade:

Fifty Five percent (55%) marks in the aggregate of the maximum marks prescribed in the case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/Specially Abled Persons and other categories, and Fifty percent (50%) marks in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST category,


Library


CNLU library is very spacious and Air Conditioned. It works from 09:00 am to 09:00 pm on all six days of a week. Library is well equipped with modern facilities and resources in the form of CD- ROMs, On-Line databases, books, e-journals, reports, thesis etc. Library has a collection of more than 14000 Books. Library subscribes more than 23 Indian and Foreign Journals.


Facilities


University provides a wide range of IT services including campus internet access via a wireless network, Online Journals Access within campus etc. Internet services are provided to students in their respective hostels too. A healthy body makes for a healthy mind. In order to ensure your well-being, CNLU has full-fledged dispensary with qualified doctor, nurse and compounder to take care of health issues of students. University owned a well equipped ambulance to take care of any kind of emergency.
